Research and Publications Committee
The six-member Research and Publications Committee (R&P) is responsible for the policies and procedures of SBL Press. The Director of SBL Press reports to the Committee and participates in meetings in an advisory capacity but does not cast votes. Specific R&P responsibilities include:
- Strategically reviews and sets policies related to the long-term goals and publishing program of SBL Press.
- Vets nominations and votes on editorial appointments for general series editors and editorial board members.
- Reports all decisions made to Council.
- Reviews any new book series proposed for SBL Press.

Members of this committee serve a three-year term, renewable for a second term.
